What is Anxiety Disorder: Recognize Anxiety in Someone you Care About

Anxiety often shows up through behavior before it shows up as a clear statement. Common signs include avoiding plans or responsibilities, trouble sleeping, irritability, constant reassurance seeking, physical symptoms like a racing heart or stomach issues, and difficulty concentrating. If you’re seeing a pattern like this that’s lasted weeks and is affecting daily life, it’s worth looking into treatment.

We treat the full range of anxiety disorders, including:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Panic Disorder
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Specific Phobias
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

A full clinical assessment, not a checklist, determines the right diagnosis and treatment path. You don’t need to figure this out yourself before calling.

Support a Loved One Through Treatment

A few things worth knowing as you support someone starting our program:

You can reach out first. You’re welcome to call us on your loved one’s behalf, even before they’ve agreed to treatment, to ask questions and understand what their options look like.

Treatment is confidential. Once someone begins, what they share with our clinical team stays between them and us, the same as any other medical care. We can still answer general questions about the program itself.

Encouragement helps more than pressure. Supporting consistency with appointments, without policing attendance, tends to go further than insisting on details about what happens in session.

We’re available if they’re not ready yet. If your loved one is hesitant, call us. We can help you think through how to approach the conversation, and let you know what support looks like for family members in that situation.

FAQs on Anxiety Recovery

MindSpace treats anxiety as a primary condition. Dual diagnosis care is available for clients who are also managing depression or substance use, but a co-occurring condition isn't required to start anxiety treatment here.

No diagnosis or referral is required to reach out. Our clinical team conducts a full assessment during intake, covering symptoms, history, and how anxiety is affecting daily life, and uses that assessment to confirm a diagnosis and recommend a treatment plan.
The initial assessment is a conversation with our clinical team about current symptoms, how long they've been present, and their impact on daily life. Based on that conversation, the team recommends a level of care, PHP, IOP, or evening outpatient, and outlines next steps.
Timing depends on current availability and the urgency of the situation. Call (818) 528-4170 to discuss scheduling directly with our team.
This varies by person and by program intensity, but many clients notice early changes, such as better sleep or fewer physical symptoms, within the first few weeks. Progress is reviewed regularly with the clinical team, and the plan adjusts based on how someone responds.

There's no fixed timeline, since it depends on the severity of symptoms and which program someone starts in. As a general pattern, PHP tends to run for a shorter, more intensive stretch, often a few weeks, before stepping down to a lighter level of care. IOP usually continues longer, frequently spanning several weeks to a few months, with sessions tapering as someone's symptoms improve. Progress is reviewed regularly with the clinical team, and the length of treatment is adjusted based on how someone is actually doing, not set in advance.

Costs vary quite a bit depending on the level of care and whether insurance is involved. Individual outpatient therapy sessions in California typically run somewhere between $100 and $300 each. For more structured programs like IOP, out of pocket costs without insurance generally fall in the $250 to $500 per day range, and a full month of IOP in the Los Angeles area is often estimated between $3,000 and $10,000, depending on program intensity and length. These are general industry ranges, not a quote from MindSpace, and actual cost depends heavily on insurance coverage, since many plans cover a meaningful portion of outpatient mental health treatment. The most accurate number for a specific person is the one our team can give after reviewing their actual insurance benefits.
